couldn't get enough of the fake snow, toy factory displays, and hot

Road trip

We are driving down to Santa Barbara today for a fun vacation..and
here are some pictures we've taken on our journey so far

Nutcracker

Pooneet and I took Ananya to San Francisco today to see the Nutcracker
ballet. She loved it!

Big girl!!

Ananya took her very first trip without us last week!! She and my mom
flew to LA and stayed 3 days and 2 nights with Paddu Aunty/Avva...and
Ananya had a wonderful time!!! She ate all her food, drank tons of
milk, slept perfectly....and played and played and played all day long
with her Paddu Avva, Murthy Thatha, and Deepu Mama. Success!!

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year...but this year was EXTRA special because Erich, Deepa, and cutie pies Sonia and Neal came and stayed with us!

We had so much fun...Ananya and Sonia became the best of friends and even had a sleepover in the same bed both nights, Neal loved running around, and Amisha enjoyed having more kids in the house to play with. Meanwhile, the Mohan cousins and P and Erich also enjoyed a more "grown up" playdate with lots of wine, great conversation, and plans to meet up again soon!

Thanksgiving day was hectic - I volunteered, as part of my work, to help with the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot. Yup, I woke up at 4:30 a.m. Not so fun, but the race was amazing and we are going to all participate next year (somehow)!

 Pooneet made the turkey, which was super yummy! Deepa, Sonia, Ananya, and I went leaf-picking to decorate my parents' house. And our Thanksgiving feast was awesome - all of our family and friends, we shared what we were grateful for this year (Ananya: "I'm thankful for my baby sister." Amisha (as said by Ananya): "I"m thankful for Dora and Minnie Mouse") And that weekend, Pooneet, Ananya, Amisha, and I went to spend a lovely, warm day in SF - we visited our beloved Ancha, had lunch at the Beach Chalet with Cliff, Helen, Gabe, and Baby Corinne, and then spent the afternoon at Ocean Beach - a perfect perfect day!

Diwali

Here are some more pictures from our Diwali 2012 celebrations. My mom represented the grandparents, Ananya and I both lit sparklers for the very first time, Amisha danced and did yoga/exercise poses during the pooja, and Pooneet concentrated on his iPhone very seriously throughout it all!

Weekend at home

Ananya is running a high fever so we cancelled all our plans and are
staying at home. We baked a sweet potato pie, watched movies, and
actually kind of enjoyed being at home (especially in the rain) for a
change! Since its 10:15am and Ananya is still asleep, I'm hoping that
when she wakes up she'll be feeling a lot better :)

With all 4 grandparents over, Ananya decided we should bake chocolate
chip cookies tonight. Yum!!

Ananya's first field trip

Big day today - Ananya's first school trip to see a play "The elves
and the shoemaker"....Pooneet and I had to join her on this big day,
which is also her first time on a school bus!!

Breakfast for dinner

After a loooooong and fun day in SF, the girls are winding down with a
cartoon and a breakfast for dinner picnic!

Thanksgiving weekend

Thanksgiving this year has been an awesome nonstop celebration of
family and friends. Deepa, Erich, and their super cute kiddos Sonia
and Neal visited us....Ananya and Sonia became the best of friends and
slept together each night!

Ananya, like her mom, loves to turn everything into song...so here she is, after our Diwali celebration (which included a puja/aarti, wearing a new lengha, lighting sparklers in our backyard, reading a Diwali book) singing her version of a Diwali song. Enjoy!
