Sleep and school

Thanks to sleep training, Amisha now loves to sleep and prefers her
fingers to a pacifier (so different from Ananya)

And Ananya started a new preschool yesterday and here's a picture from her lunchtime! She'll be attending two preschools so that she'll be in school every day of the week in the morning. What I love about this new school is that they have a wonderful garden in the backyard, lessons in Spanish and Mandarin each day, and they feed the kids a yummy, healthy lunch! Ananya was SUCH a trooper - within 10 minutes of me showing her the new school, she told me "Mama, I'm ready for you to go! I'm ready to have fun!" And when I picked her up, she said she loved it and wants to go there every day. Gotta love a kid who loves school :)

Two weeks of craziness

Pooneet is in India for two weeks on a business trip....normally, we have a very chill household where nothing crazy happens. Of course, every time he goes away, all kinds of madness occurs!

I was cooking dinner for Ananya one night and badly burned my arm...had to go to urgent care and they wrapped my arm up for a week! It's a mix of 1st and 2nd degree burns, but I think it's on the mend.

Then, I had two weddings/sangeets to attend. I took Amisha to her first sangeet, which she loved, and had fun at Shikha (cousin's of Pooneet's cousin) and Gaurav's(a college friend) wedding:

The next week, I went to Neha Ajmani's sangeet, which was a fun IIT reunion with some of my favorite uncles and aunties!

Jean (aka. Eemo) spent a lot of time with us these past two weeks helping me out, especially all day and all night on Saturday. She and Ananya made yummy fruit tarts, we visited Steph and baby Leah, and we completely exhausted her!

In between, Ananya had swimming class and spent her days in the zoo, museums, Chuck e Cheese, and playing in the backyard and in the park. According to everyone we see, Amisha has grown a LOT in the past week.

When visiting baby Leah and Auntie Steph last week, Amisha rolled from her back to her tummy to her back! Yay!

And now, both kids are sick with fevers and colds, I think I'm heading in that direction, and we can't wait for Pooneet to come home! Thanks to my parents and Pooneet's mom for helping take care of us these past two weeks - we could not have survived the craziness without you!

Baby Leah - Amisha's future bff

Two of our closest friends, Steph & Dan, just had a beautiful baby girl named Leah and we went to visit them in the hospital when baby Leah was 1 day old. Steph and I have had the same doctor, gave birth in the same hospital, and have had overlapping maternity leave which has been fun! We're so excited to have a little playmate for Amisha and can't wait for these little girls to grow up together :) On a side note, it definitely made me realize how much little Amisha has grown!!! She's SO much bigger than she was 4 months ago!

Wedding mania

This is a summer of weddings for us! We have already been to 3, and I'm going to two alone in the next week and a half! Craziness. But lots of fun :) This past Friday, one of my closest friends, Amy, got married in San Francisco and I was a bridesmaid. It was the first time we have left both girls for more than a few hours and even though my parents looked totally exhausted by the end of the night, Pooneet and I had a great time away :)

Swimming!

Ananya loves to swim and has been taking lessons weekly since she was 3 months old. In her new "grown up" class, parents aren't allowed in (just the teacher) and Ananya has made the transition fairly seamlessly....of course, she refused to go to class last week, but I'm hoping that was just a weird fluke!

Here are some photos and a video of our little fish!

4 months

Amisha turned 4 months old today and we celebrated, in part, by taking her to the doctor and poor thing got 2 shots :( But she was quite the trooper the rest of the day and even put up with her big sister singing "happy birthday" to her!

In this past month, Amisha has started cooing a LOT, her hair has grown, she sleeps anywhere and everywhere, and continues to be in awe of her big sister. She is a happy little baby, always smiling and gurgling and loves to be kissed and snuggled. Her favorite spot to play is her giraffe playmat (not the whale playmat which, for some reason, really scares her) and she loves kicking, chewing on the animals, and doing tummy time (ie. sleeping!) on this mat.

In her 4 months, Amisha has also led quite the social life. To date, she has attended 8 birthday parties, 4 high school graduation parties, 2 weddings, 1 engagement party, 1 baby shower, 1 bridal shower in addition to multiple playdates, trips to the park, and fun times in both grandparents houses. Quite the social butterfly!

Tummy time

Amisha has outsmarted us with her tummy time strategies. She gets on her tummy, plays for a little bit, and either protests until we pick her up OR falls asleep! I came back from a dentist appointment today to find her sleeping for 45 minutes like this!
